Right.  And the best way to generate  PDF, PS and DVI is TeX, or one of the front ends to it like LaTeX. That way you can do major changes to your format and not touch your writing at all.  Also does fun stuff like creating a table of contents and an index more or less automatically.  While I am not a LaTeX master by any means, I can't see going back to "What you see is all you get" word processor for any thing.  A flat  "dot tex" file run through LaTeX results in very good looking PDF file.

Obfuscation is NOT encryption. Unfortunately, lot of people makes such mistake.

... is that to say that the spellbook defines a callback, and then registers a reference to it in the mage (for an onUpdate event or whatever)?  I guess Tedd could work out how to register his own callbacks (say, from a watch) in that case, but he might have to watch a spellbook as it is created (to see it being registered) and when a spell is being gained (to see it being invoked).  In this case (a) a cloned copy of the spellbook would remain static and not update, unless/until its callback is sepeartely registered, (b) if the spellbook is destroyed the mage may run into an unmatched dependency upon gaining a new spell (unless magic works such that the reference is also destroyed), which could be anything from silent to fatal (knowing Dan, more likely the former).
The diametric alternative, of course, would be the spellbook acting as a client, actively re-downloading the information from the mage intermittently.  An more efficient possibility is intermittently querying the timestamp and, if it's newer than the one it has stored, re-downloading the information.  These are less elegant but avoid making the spellbook a dependency of the mage (they instead make the spellbook dependant on the mage).  Also, an exact clone of the spellbook would work as is, unless the mage has some mechanism to prevent a given revision being downloaded twice, in which case it would be a race as to which spellbook gets a given update and which one does not.  If not, then the mage is essentially a queriable API, which Tedd could study by gazing at a spellbook as someone gains a new spell.

"the mage is essentially a queriable API" never thought I'd say that.

Don't beat yourself up for not making that one work.  There really is nothing worth doing there.
For example, the best restaurant on the Moon only got a one star rating in the travel guide.  The review put it succinctly.  "The food is decent.  The service is significantly above adequate.  And the prices are, all things considered, quite reasonable.  But there is no atmosphere."

    Uhh ... why?
No, voicemail is to make the caller pay more for contacting you. If you aren't able to talk with recipient directly, it's MUCH better to send him text than to leave voicemail, for reasons CritterKeeper mentioned.
I have a normal ("dumb") phone for calling. I also have something the vendor called smart phone, but I'm pretty sure it's tablet, because it's too big to use it for calling and can't send texts. (Ok, the fact I put SIM designed for tablets inside might contributed to the text bit ...)

I think you've got a misconception here - as I understand it, there is no "partnership" involved. A human does not pair with a parasitic creature to become an aberration, the human all by himself becomes a parasitic creature that is an aberration. Sirleck - the creepy mask thing itself, not the body it happens to be on right now - used to be a human, and willingly sacrificed his humanity to become said creepy mask thing.
Sirleck happens to be a particular kind of aberration that exhibits its parasitic nature by taking control of human hosts, but that's not a general trait of all aberrations.

Part of the problem with getting into space isn't it's so far away, but it's so fast.  If you don't have the orbital velocity you are going to fall back to earth fairly soon.  Low earth orbital speed is about 7.8 kilometers per second.  Delta-V is a harsh mistress.

That's if you have antigravity in which it costs less energy to raise an object than can be extracted from its descent. If however your antigravity method still costs at least 10 joules to lift one kilogram by one meter (at Earth's surface), i.e. the same amount of energy as the gain in potential energy from lifting it, then any such antigravity "perpetual motion machine" will run at a deficit and thus not be "perpetual".

Fox News uses that term a lot.  They also claim to be the most watched cable news channel.
You can't have it both ways!  Either you ARE the mainstream source or you aren't  Pick one a stick to it.

"I did not have sexual relations with that pink haired woman."
Completely true.  But if Elliot should say it, the typical high school rumor mill will take that denial as an admission.  Then all the other stories that are more implausible, like the shapeshifting superheroine, will be dismissed as a desperate attempt to cover up what Elliot and Ashley were really doing in the mall.

That, in itself, is part of the problem, I think.  Why is it a "pinup poll" instead of a "Sketch poll" with pinup options?  I really hope Dan knows some of us would really rather just have regular sketchbooks, instead of all these pinups which, frankly, some of them seem like they'd be better *without* the fanservice element.  Maybe the pinups would win the voting anyway, but I do wish we could have a chance to find out.

My usual reaction to Poe's Law is that instead of responding in way I find more likely the statement was meant, I respond in the way which allows more meaningful (or funnier) response, or preferably both.
(In short: don't assume I didn't laugh or didn't get the joke just because I answered seriously. Sure, sometimes I really didn't get the joke - but not always.)
