Ooh, I'm really happy to finally see all this info collected in one page. I always enjoy conception/development info, and I kinda forgot most of it by now
I seriously want a storyarc in which Sarah can say nothing other than "Sarah", though. That sounds hilarious.

Maybe it's evolving to be more and more athletic?  Start out with a relatively single-purpose form, then become a much more flexible, multi-purpose athlete who works in the same environment?
(Anyone who doubts the athleticism of cheerleaders needs to watch what cheerleaders can do these days!)

(ETA: Huh.  I never thought of myself as having the body of a cheerleader, but I bet I could have made a pretty good "base" on one of these all-girls teams....)

    This is...uh.. random.
Well, at least they can't deny evolution now. Though, knowing creationists, this kind of thing wouldn't stop some of them.

Maybe Football Player's attitude was better suited for the stereotypical Cheerleader. Saffron City saw that and needed a new cheerleader for their team and so initiated the trade knowing it would trigger the evolution. Sport teams are always thinking strategically when acquiring players.

You can argue like this for most pokemons. Hell, Caterpie - Metapod - Butterfree is classical example of metamorphosis. In fact, that's where the "meta" from "metapod" came from.
He likely got the pom pom in same way Kadabra get spoon when evolving from Abra.

Dan is an Uryuom, non-gendered by nature, but uses male pronouns unless a female identity is chosen in order to fit in with the human population.

Even though I disagree strongly, I respect the courage Dan has shown here.
I was raised to believe that those who claimed to prefer "mild" seasoning were culinary wimps.  I may have been wrong about that broad generalization.
But I still contend that those in the highest levels of the food service business have done a disservice to their customers by not including Spicy AND Sweet as a standard option.

I feel like trigger warnings are kind of dumb nowadays, as people use them to describe things they don't like (Which I'm fine with), but then try to pass it off as something that'll send them into a PTSD attack (Which I'm not). That's an actual serious condition that you're trivialising, and makes those with the actual condition look bad.

    Abby? I don't get the reference . . .
As for trigger warnings, people are using them the same way that they say that they are "allergic" to something when they just strongly dislike it. I'm sorry, but unless it makes you physically ill, it's not an allergy.

I think the problem with the idea of the aberrations' monstrous forms being a punishment is that the idea is assigning morality to Magic, an eldritch, unfathomably vast mentality that could be singular, plural, neither, or all of the above simultaneously. From what we know, Magic has a flair for the dramatic, a desire to be special( or at least to not be mainstream), and allows access to power regardless of the morality of the person seeking that power. When Magic grants power to an individual, that power is inline with the person's personality, deep desires, or bloodline affinity (Assuming Magic doesn't get confused, like in Elliot's case), though not necessarily the aspects that the person wants Magic to draw from, like when Nanase kept getting sneaking spells when she was afraid of getting outed as a lesbian. Also, in Squirrel prophet, when Magic acted to give the good guys a hint to prevent a system change, it decided to do so in an admittedly half-hearted manner, intentionally giving our heroes poor odds of success.
To me, it seems the Magic doesn't care if the heroes succeed or not, just that the events are dramatic and interesting (kinda like Pandora, but broader and with a better appreciation of natural pacing). That said, the monstrous forms of aberrations/vampires could be a consequence of that. Not as a punishment, but as a reflection of the magic users and a tool to ratchet up the drama. The monsters being monstrous makes for more interesting and dramatic events. We also have official confirmation that some aberrations only have monsterous forms when using their powers, which would allow for a degree of tension building when the action is slower and sneakier.

Well, all the aberrations we've seen were wearing clothes that fit them reasonably well. Spidey's had some serious custom tailoring (which he may have done himself, but then he'd still have to acquire fabric, thread, buttons, and preferably a sewing machine and a reasonably-secure work space). They may prefer to not live outside in the rain and cold. They may need to eat ordinary food to maintain their bodies, more often than would be satisfied by their need to drain victims of life-force. Most probably need to travel every so often to avoid attracting too much attention. They may have ambitions beyond living a really long time - Sirleck for example.
    Money would be useful.
However, if I were an aberration and learned that someone was trying to draw a lot of aberrations to Moperville, I'd be careful to stay well away from that city. Preferably on another continent. Because the expected consequence of a concentration of aberrations is a concentrated aberration-hunt.

I just had a thought regarding this comic. What if Pandora wasn't the one controlling Dex? What if it was Voltaire? I know the urn symbol on the pendant hints towards Pandora with the old roots of the Pandora's Box myth, but I'm not sure we've had a definitive yea or nea if that is what the symbol means.
Meanwhile, Dex was mentioning 'for the greater good.' Pandora doesn't really seem like the type to care about the greater good. She cares about her son and things being interesting. I imagine she could use 'for the greater good' as means to manipulate someone into doing something interesting, but what we've seen of her direct action, she prefers to nudge things into motion and then let them develop organically (much more interesting that way).
Voltaire, on the other hand, is certainly willing to use 'for the greater good' to advance his agenda as seen in this comic. I don't know what he would have gained from killing everyone at the dojo, but little is known about Volty's plans or end goal.

Ashley has some similarity to Akiko.
Nanase is reacting as if her little sister was throwing herself at her ex.

I just figured that most of the pages were blank, and they filled in as one's magical repertoire grew.

Also, simplest solution to Elliot's problem: use a Secret Identity form now, and become his normal self when he gets to the apartment.

For a less serious scene, Elliot could find out that he can still reach his "Male Human" form, but it now fits into his "decoy identity" spell instead of being his default form...

All plot aside, panel 2 of Mophergirl crouching is possibly the coolest panel that Dan's drawn, and certainly my favorite in that action/noir style.

Story not aside, I am disappointed in lack of the alternate forms. I can understand Heidi not being called up, and Mild Mannered might not be appropriate, but frankly wandering around a dark apartment complex  talking about hunting vampires would be maybe the best possible scenario to introduce Goth form. I can't wait for Wednesday!

So what? It will STILL be safer than not transforming at all. Also, why don't he go to secret ID - the goth or party one - then go inside, then immediately before something can happen transform to normal?
Agree ... too many people around who have limited understanding of how secret identities works, which in this case is more dangerous than not knowing it's Elliot at all.
... either that or he will be spotted by someone unexpected.
BTW, regarding the lego combinations Dan talks about on twitter ... exponential might be optimistic estimate. I wouldn't rule out factorial (which is even bigger than exponential). Although proving it would be hard.

Who cares? If your colonists move in and find a nice depopulated area with lots of land ripe for tilling and growing, they'll take it and won't complain.
