This reminds me of a completely ridiculous dream I had a while ago. In it, there was a huge fuss about a strain of Ebola which for some reason attacked the teeth first and had somehow managed to get on the Internet. In order to block its propagation, Danish health services instructed everyone to carefully brush their teeth before going online.
And then there was a TV clip of our Prime Minister who was absolutely red-faced with fury. He screamed at some hapless quailing guy in a lab coat, "VIRUSES DO NOT PROPAGATE ON THE INTERNET!" Then he paused a moment before going on, "All right, that sounded stupid, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!"

That bit with the Prime Minister reminds me of the newscaster alien Morbo from Futurama, who is known for shouting "(thing) DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!"

So, anyone from the old forum might remember me complaining every now and then about Dad not paying child support.
Mom just found out through his facebook that he's published a book, Ceres 2525.
Guess who hasn't seen an increase in child support since it was put on the shelves?
Mom's in a good mood, though. Because we get to call some lawyers.
...where's the smiling devil emoticon when you need it?

My dream car is a literal dream car. It originated in a dream a friend of mine had. For some reason he had won a fortune and he wanted to buy the world's most expensive car. So he went to a car dealer and there learned that they happened to have it on display. A French car, of all things, named... "LeSnob."
When he shared the story with me, we were both laughing ourselves sick at the sheer hideousness of the name for the thing. It did not for a moment even attempt to conceal that the sole purpose of owning this car was car bragging rights. We then decided that it was probably so expensive that even Donald Trump couldn't afford it and that my friend declared that the best part of owning the LeSnob was to once a day every day of the year to take a turn around Trump Tower to remind Trump that he couldn't afford one.

Race started to matter politically once it became clear that political authority was needed in order to force social stratification (i.e. keeping the less-favored groups out of the professional and ruling classes). White farmers don't campaign against black folks when 90% of blacks exist only in subservient roles--they do it when the black folks actually start to compete with them for jobs, housing, schools, and influence. Nobody bothers to spend effort on preventing earthworms from flying, after all.

I meant based on when "Western culture" (meaning: people in US) started solving it. But you're right, gender identity was issue long before people started taking it as one.
Hmmmm ... civilization started near the point where "black" and "white" people meet. But yes, the idea that enslaving people of "correct" (white) color is not normal appeared only later, before that any other nation was fair game.
Informal doesn't mean nonsense, although I see that the term "breed" is now preferred term - oh. You mean the concept of dividing humans to races based on skin color. Well, before the "improved travel technologies" (was it really technology? Didn't the travel expanded for political reasons, like fall of Constantinople?) it might had some relevancy, although not nearly as big as it was claimed to ... interesting how the race started to be issue only when it's relevancy started to decline ...
... and by "interesting" I mean "suspicious".
Basically, the concept of race was used as an explanation that then existing cultural lines are fixed and there is no point trying to make those other people part of our culture. And the fact that you can't extend culture as fast as the conquest was happening was taken as confirmation.
Now, after several centuries, it is apparent that "other races" can became part of our culture if we let them (and if they want to).

Fun fact : There was a african (black) dynasty of Roman Emperors.
Though I always figured justifying the Genocidal actions taken against "the Savages" (Native Americans) was another large part of the creation of Racism. It does seem like it really comes about when Europe started conquering the rest of the world, as a justification for their conquest and subjugation of all those non european countries (and Ireland).

'Not want to believe' is not the same as 'refusing to believe.' Especially not in Susan's case. If there is any character more painfully honest with herself than Susan is, I have a hard time thinking of one. I do not see denial holding her back for very long.

They strike me as the embodiment of the ultimate dream of a group of extra-immature Frat Boys and bully-type high school athletes--their society is set up to give them (or at least those who dominate among them) all of the sex, booze, and bullying that they could want.

I'd say that some people are more strongly gendered than others. I'd bet the Elliot was never strongly gendered, which made adapting to his magic easier than it would have been if he were.

Not sure if anyone's ever mentioned this in the old forums, but I noticed in the commentary of this page, Dan say's:
I know Dan did the commentaries "Tedd et Tam" last year, but I don't recall Tedd mentioning he cooks better when female prior to Grace's birthday, so correct me if I'm wrong, but did Dan slip a spoiler in the commentary?

Yes, the Nanase doll tucked in Elliot's waistband is cute!
Talking back to the voice in your head is often a sign of madness . . .
Anyway, I like the poses in the 4th and 6th panels. Elliot is indeed owning the Cheerleadra form and identity.
Also, Elliot has confirmed here that the Cheerleadra form has super strength. Not "more powerful than a locomotive", but definitely strength that is implausible for a human--stronger than non-Guardian Nanase, likely stronger than Greg, and possibly able to lift an automobile overhead.
Considering the number of people who want to change their bodies' apparent sex in spite of being made social outcasts for doing so (hundreds of thousands in America alone), I would expect that easily ten times as many (or more) would do so if it were reversible, safe, and not a source of social rejection. Everybody has had at least idle curiosity about how "the other half" lives, even if they don't want to transform on a permanent basis.

Ohhh! A new spell for Elliot...
If I were Magic I'd give him an awesome autopilot... that followed the GPS instructions to the letter including obeying speed limits, traffic lights, and always stopping for pedestrians crossing the road. I'm not sure if I'd make him follow the roads at a height of six feet, or fifty, either way he'd be at the mercy of traffic, the spell having him follow the rhythm of road bound traffic while paying no attention to birds, drones or anything else that flies. I can visualize the look on her friends faces when they learn that Cheerleadra is stuck in traffic and can't figure out how to disengage the autopilot...
It's probably a good thing that it's Dan writing this comic and not me...
