This is one of the things I love about this forum -- our moderators are reasonable people who aren't afraid to apologize when they make a mistake, and to do so just as publicly as the mistaken warning was made.  (I know usually we aren't supposed to comment publicly on Moderator actions, but in this case I felt like it was worth risking it ;-) )
Back on topic, I recall Jerry referring to parties where one or more Immortals named Zeus get into a fight...so it looks like Pandora really *is* an introvert!

The "fungus/microbes that tend to consume refined sulfur that isn't sterilized and hermetically sealed" version from D&D is probably the most plausible way of making gunpowder not work, which means that the adoption of explosives would get delayed until the discovery of nitroglycerin and methods of stabilizing it (dynamite or nitrocellulose/guncotton).
Anyway, as for magic being widely available, it does appear that magical energy is a limited resource. Living beings can generate internal energy to a point, but any "industrial" type uses would have to draw on environmental energy--and there may be minerals or something that contain a relative concentration of magical energy that could thus be consumed like coal. Universal use of magic thus seems likely to deplete the world's magical energy supply. At best such a situation would lead to a limited availability of non-personal magical energy and a forced rollback of industrial usage. In a more dystopian situation, people or animals capable of generating enough energy to be useful but not enough to be powerful combatants may be enslaved as energy sources. Even worse, environmental magical energy might turn out to be vital for life (think of Mako/Lifestream depletion in various locations due to Shinra's activities in Final Fantasy VII).

So I was rereading "End of an Era" and the scene where they're talking about Susan's birthday and it requiring cake somehow made me think of "The cake is a lie."
    Then it got me thinking:
Portals are possible with magic in EGS.
Tedd can read magic and learn how it works and possibly make wands with that knowledge.
Tedd knows the ins and outs of the TFG enough to build and program more, and can make watches and stuff programed with spells.
So...Tedd is basically short of seeing a portal being made from being able to make his own portal gun. I'm wondering if the creation of such a portal gun would lead to running into Lord Tedd, dealing with General Shade Tail, and Ellen getting to meet Kaoli in person finally.

You'd be surprised.  It's something of a stereotype/trope/cliche in BDSM circles, the man or woman who is strong and powerful and dominant everywhere else, but submissive to their spouse/partner within their relationship.  For some that means only during play sessions, for others it's more constant/consistent.

I read (part of) a great series set in New Orleans just after it had become a possession of the United States.  The first book is A Free Man of Color.  Back then, "black" meant someone who was pure African, and "coloured" meant someone of mixed race,  They had terms for all sorts of finer distinctions within the category of "coloured."  The main character is three-quarters black, one-quarter white, while his half-sister is three-quarters white, and it makes a huge difference in their standing and prospects.  Benjamin January moved to Europe and trained as a physician and surgeon, but when his wife dies he moves back to New Orleans to be with family, and can only find work as a musician despite his skills and training.  It's a fascinating setting, and from what I've read in reviews, it's very well-researched and historically accurate.  It really makes you think about how terms for race, and attitudes about race, have changed through the years.
Nowadays, thanks to bad associations with Jim Crow, you almost never see the term "colored" even though by the old terminology that's probably the vast majority here in the states.  (I think the NAACP is the only place I can think of that's still used, just like the United Negro College Fund hasn't changed its name as the preferred terms changed.)

I guess that means I am actually an Indo-European-Dane. Some three thousand years ago my ancestors moved here, decided they liked the place and booted out the previous occupants for war crimes. 1

1The previous population committed the crime of going to war armed with flint and stone weapons against copper and bronze. As always, this was punished very seriously.

The fact that Magus refused to get Edward to kill Abraham is a good indicator that he isn't really a bad guy, he's just desperate to get out of his predicament, he even despised the idea of having to go back to Sirleck for help after Pandora left and said he'd have much to atone for because of it. I said before that I believe Magus' relationship with Terra is similar to Elliot's with Nanase when they were dating, the magic duel felt very much like Elliot and Nanase's sparring matches where they taunt each other strictly for dramatic effect. Terra wasn't expecting Magus to just vanish after firing her beam, which might have been similar to Ellen's beam in that it probably would have transformed Magus rather than actually did any harm.

I'm pretty sure Noah has "prehensile tendrils" coming out the back of his head and wears a long girls hair style to disguise them.  He reminds me of the drummer boy from Ellen's other memories.  He sought revenge against Damien for the death of his parents which makes me suspect they worked in the lab where Damien was created, and Damien was created in the image of a prophecy mostly believed by chimeras.  I'm pretty confident he's the child of chimeras and that Damien missed him (a child left behind).

The Moderator: No, it does not. There is no debate on these forums at all. Trans people get referred to by their self-identified gender here. Deliberately denying them their personal identity and lived experience is transphobic and hence against the forum rules. Anyone who does not respect this will first get warned and if they do not heed this eventually banned.

Some don't like to use the expression because, when you add in the definition of "fittest", it becomes a tautology: "survival of those who survive" or "those who have lots of descendants, will have lots of descendants".

There was a town in Spain that was so indignant at Denmark's support of Napoleon during the Napoleonic War that its municipal leadership decided to declare war on Denmark sometime back in 1812 or thereabouts. This state of hostilities lasted without cessation for more than a century and a half until a Danish newspaperman found a reference to it in the archives. He decided to go there and investigate, and lo and behold, the current mayor of the town found that yes, war had been declared and no, no peace treaty had ever been formally signed.
He then took the newspaperman as a prisoner of war, cruelly treated him to a grand dinner with the finest wines he owned, and together with the other guests they debated the matter and finally decided that the time had come to bury the hatchet. And the newspaperman got to return home with a formal and signed declaration of cessation of hostilities. I do not know if an actual peace treaty has ever been agreed on but at least there has been no violations of the ceasefire so far.

No no, the Mandala only warned of the Great Crash, it did not actually cause it. The real culprit was Commander Vimes falling through the roof of the University Library just as the lightning triggered the Glass Clock, which sent reverberations through L-Space and caused the redisintegration of the now never-existed files.

Obviously, black holes are on the top. The ones big enough to not evaporate.
Black holes definitely have it good. They're attractive despite not being on a diet ...

... unless his help was important enough that if he would be born 40 years later it would be under Third Empire. Or with radiation poisoning.
... I have better idea. Let's visit him in 1951 and take him to 1961. That shouldn't make any negative change in history.

Once up on a time, a big bird was sent to eat the liver of an immortal who displeased the other magical beings.
He didn't die despite the bird returning to finish the job every day.

Also, Child-Like doesn't only have physical implications. I was confused by the last few panels due to this, as I assumed it meant mentally child-like, which Pandora def qualifies as having.

So...show of hands. Who here thinks Tedd "more dangerous rarity" Verres is this rare type of wizard?
Back before the Crash, I speculated that Magic changing has to do with werewolves being a thing in the past but not the present.

How many times have I said she's chaotic, which does not always mean evil?  I think it's one of my standard lines about Pandora.
