"I knew she was trouble the moment she walked into my office. Legs that went on forever, a body that won't quit topped with hair the color of spun gold. I said to myself 'Abner, this is your lucky day.' I just wasn't sure if it was good luck or bad luck. My business, the luck's usually bad..." -

now we just need the rest of the teens as bridesmaids. even the guys. -
1 pointTwo pretty wedding dresses and a happy couple, it doesn't get more cute than that. I was rather uninterested in Rhoda's and Catalina's relationship before, but this sketchbook has now made me a strong shipper of them.

More Speculation.

Or that the addition of a bit of personal risk just makes the whole thing more fun. Pandora's main purpose is to ease her boredom, and I'd imagine that adding elements of personal risk as well as elements of uncertainty can help with this. -

What? When did this happen? Did we even read the same comic? Magus never even came near to making Edward do that. He flat out refused to do it even when Pandora threatened him. Under terrible pressure and in what amounts to indefinite solitary confinement he retained enough integrity to say, "Blow that." If anything, that moment was what sealed the deal for me and convinced me that Magus was not and never would be a villain -- just desperate and with very very few options left to him in what he could do. -

As beautiful as this is, something tells me that Catalina wouldn't be caught dead in a wedding gown. She'd wear a tuxedo. -
1 pointRhoda's bridesmaids: Diane, Grace, Lucy, Rick. Cat's bridesmaids: Susan, Elliot, Sarah, Tedd. (They're actually all in the photo, two each behind their clavicles, two each behind their necks. Rhoda hasn't quite got her mark figured out yet.)

I wonder if Magus's plot is all needlessly complex, that if he had just told Helena and Demetrius that he needed some help instead of running from them, this would all be avoided. Of course, Pandora probably told him that they would kill him if they ever caught him. -
1 pointYeah a lot of the clairvoyance would be in looking at "If A does B then C should happen, if D gets involved then E or F could happen, but if I do G to A then D should go to H." Having higher clairvoyance would mean being able to see more possible outcomes and even speculate a number of "what ifs". Being able to predict outcomes like that isn't the kind of thing you'd use to buy lottery tickets but it is more like "I saw that coming a mile away." which is why Pandora is so easily bored.

Why else would Sirleck suddenly change his mind about not helping Magus if not to take advantage of turning a powerful wizard into a new host? possessing Magus ≠ possessing Elliot. Magus is appealing not because he has magic, as that would have drawn Sirleck's attention much earlier in the conversation, Magus is appealing because nobody knows him; Sirleck didn't show an interest until after Magus admitted he was alone, that Sirleck was the only person he knew in this world. Elliot is entirely the opposite of that. he is surrounded by people who know him quite well that could easily dispatch Sirleck. The bodysnatcher likely won't make his move until after Elliot and Magus have parted ways. -

It's a reference to superhero tabletop RPGs I once played in, Champions in particular. If a supervillain had some sort of power that automatically let him escape the heroes at any time, it was called an Amazing Chicken Power. -

Yeah, it's one of my favorite aspects of Dan's stuff. And he's said before that the main bulk of the story was designed to take place when the main crew got into college. If that's still the case, then we've got a LOT to look forward to. -

The "vampires are for real" line... SPLENDID trolling of the vampire. At least I think Volty woulda made sure he knew they were. -

So, we can settle last weekend's discussion by saying that Voltaire Sanders was the spy, but he is feeding Sirleck information with a human go-between. -

Immortal precognition can't be "true" seeing of future events, because that would be equivalent to information traveling backwards in time, which is forbidden in EGS. I think it's more like "ultra-accurate weather forecasting"--as Immortals grow more powerful and perceptive, they can integrate finer and finer details until they develop a Sherlock Holmes-like ability to get a whole picture from just a few obscure-seeming clues. At Pandora's level, she can probably also "see the threads of fate"--i.e. fully construct entire alternate scenarios based on options A, B, C, etc., and determine their approximate probability of coming to pass. -

Any plan involving the use of the Diamond will probably also result in having to tangle with Abraham again. -

Okay, wild theory here, or maybe it's the opposite of wild? Magus has seen enough of Elliot and his friends to know they're good people. Once he gets zapped into Elliot's body, what if he just comes clean and *tells* them about how he got stranded in a strange dimension, and has been stuck invisibly watching his duplicate there? He wouldn't have to tell them exactly how long he's been there, or about his ability to amplify emotions, or his working with Pandora, or any of that. Just tell them that he's been watching Elliot, and when he saw Ellen about to zap Elliot, he had a flash of insight and realized he might be able to ride the beam into Elliot's body and be able to communicate with them. Then he'd ask them to please help him. He might even let them come up with the idea of using the Dewitchery Diamond on their own, once he explained his problem and asked for help. If they're too slow to come up with it on their own, he could ask whether Ellen was also a duplicate from another dimension, as he had no twin back home. (Most people seem pretty sure that Magus and Terra are alternates of Elliot and Tedd, but even if they aren't, if we believe it, why wouldn't they?) Does anyone really think our Main Eight+ would say no? Or would they head for the Dewitchery Diamond to help the poor stranded alternate-Elliot regain form and get back home? Even if they took the matter to Mr. Verres, I could see him agreeing to it as long as he was convinced no harm would come to Elliot and that Magus's intentions were honorable. So, instead of wild hijinx as possessed-Elliot makes a run for the DD and his friends try to stop him, we get a nice, calm, fully-approved trip to where it's stored. Might even help keep Sirleck from double-crossing him, as it would be difficult to get into the facility and take possession under the watchful eye of Verres and company.
